AP top 25: ASU remains stagnant in AP Poll

Where did the Sun Devils land this week?

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

After the victory over Washington State Saturday afternoon in Tempe, Arizona State stayed put at No. 13 in the AP Poll and was No. 13 in the Amway Coaches Poll too.

The Sun Devils achieved victory on the backs of its seniors. Taylor Kelly threw for four touchdowns in the win, but it was all Cougars in the first half who took a 24-21 lead into halftime. The Sun Devils responded with 31 unanswered points to give Arizona State the win.

Oregon expectedly jumped out to a 13-0 lead and ran away from Colorado with a 44-10 win, keeping them extremely high in the poll at No. 3. USC and UCLA were tied at 14 in the second quarter after a 2-yard pass from Cody Kessler to Justin Davis, but the Bruins then began to pull away. They quickly widened their lead to 38-14 by the end of  the third quarter and won by a score of 38-20. Brett Hundley threw for 326 yards with three touchdowns. UCLA moved up to No. 9 with the win and USC dropped out of the rankings with the loss.

Arizona also didn't have any issue taking care of Utah in a 42-10 victory. The win may have come at a price though as freshman quarterback Anu Solomon seemingly re-injured his ankle in the first half and was in a walking boot in the second half. Utah dropped out of the poll as well while Arizona moved up to No. 12.

With the UCLA win over USC, Arizona State must beat Arizona and count on Stanford to beat UCLA on Friday in order to win the Pac-12 South.
