This time last week, the Arizona State State Sun Devils were riding high. They had beaten Arizona, they were third in the Pac-12 standings and they were firmly in the NCAA tournament. What a difference a week makes, as Arizona State got swept on their Rocky Mountain road trip and now fans are questioning whether this team is going to be dancing in March.
Stanford picked up its biggest win of the season, Arizona dominated a very good Colorado team and Oregon continues to play well down the stretch. See how it all impacted this week's Pac-12 power rankings.
1. Arizona Wildcats (25-2, 12-2) Last Week: 1
Arizona continues to be No. 1 in our power rankings after sweeping the Rocky Mountain schools on the road. The Wildcats were taken to overtime against the Utes but handled Colorado on Saturday by 27 points.
2. UCLA Bruins (21-6, 10-4) Last Week: 2
The Bruins snapped a four-game winning streak with a loss on the road to Stanford. UCLA has double-digit victories over Colorado (twice), Arizona State, California and Stanford this season and the Bruins look like the clear No. 2 team in the Pac-12 heading into postseason play.
3. Stanford Cardinal (18-8, 9-5) Last Week: 6
Stanford picked up its biggest win of the season when Johnny Dawkins' club beat UCLA by nine points in Palo Alto over the weekend. Stanford's RPI now sits at 41 and the Cardinal now look to be back firmly on the bubble as they head to Arizona to face the Sun Devils and Wildcats.
4. Colorado Buffaloes (20-8, 9-6) Last Week: 4
The Buffaloes outrebounded Arizona State by 21 on their way to a nine-point victory over the Sun Devils. Despite a 27-point loss to Arizona, Colorado remains comfortably in the NCAA tournament with an RPI of 26.
5. California Golden Bears (18-9, 9-5) Last Week: 5
The Golden Bears went 1-1 against the Los Angeles schools, and currently sit in a tie for third place in the Pac-12. Cal has an RPI of 51 and needs to do some more work against the Arizona schools and Colorado in order to feel at ease on selection Sunday.
6. Arizona State Sun Devils (19-8, 8-6) Last Week: 3
After their biggest win of the season against Arizona, the Sun Devils fell back down to earth against Colorado and Utah. The Sun Devils may have played their worst game of the season in a 23-point loss to Utah on Sunday.
7. Utah Utes (18-9, 7-8) Last Week: 7
Utah is a few ball bounces away from being a NCAA tournament team. The Utes have lost their eight conference games by an average of 5.25 PPG. Utah can play with any team in the conference and it will be a tough out in the conference tournament.
8. Oregon Ducks (18-8, 6-8) Last Week: 9
Oregon continues to play well in the second half of conference play. The Ducks have won three games in a row and currently sit with an RPI of 40 with four games remaining.
9. Washington Huskies (15-13, 7-8) Last Week: 8
The Huskies split on the road against the Oregon schools, losing to Oregon and beating Oregon State by 14. Like most of the conference, Washington will be a tough out in the conference tournament because of its veteran core.
10. Oregon State Beavers 14-12, 6-8) Last Week: 10
Oregon State split with the Washington schools this past week. The Beavers are just 1-4 in their last five games and face UCLA and USC on the road this week.
11. Washington State Cougars (9-18, 2-13) Last Week: 11
The Cougars have lost six straight games since their victory over Washington on Feb. 1.
12. USC Trojans (10-17, 1-13) Last Week: 12
Andy Enfield's first season in the Pac-12 continues to be anything but easy. USC is currently on an eight-game losing streak.
