National Signing Day 2014: Christian Sam signs with ASU

The days of Todd Graham invading Texas for talent have officially commenced as the Sun Devils pick up another letter of intent from a Texas native.

Todd Graham said he wanted to recruit in Texas, and the Sun Devil football coach certainly meant it as he has received a letter of intent from Allen High School linebacker Christian Sam.

Sam faxed in his letter of intent on Signing Day on Wednesday and joins an increasingly large group of Texas natives to call Arizona State home.

The outside linebacker prospect verbally committed to Arizona State in August of 2013 before he led the Allen Eagles to a perfect 16-0 record and a coveted State Championship.

Sam was not the only verbal commitment the Sun Devils' received from an Allen player back in August as Sam's teammate Chad Adams announced his verbal commitment just a week later.

At 6-foot-2 and 212 pounds, Sam has the makings of a SPUR or WILL linebacker who can contribute early on in his Sun Devil career.

Both Rivals and Scout consider Sam a 3-star recruit and rank him among the top 50 linebackers in the country. Both recruiting services list scholarship offers for Sam from Baylor, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Texas Tech among others.

Sam's Rivals profile also lists his 40-yard dash time at 4.51 seconds which should help restore a much-needed element of speed to the Sun Devils' linebacking corps this fall.
