The 2014 Arizona State spring football game started off with some good news for the Sun Devil coaching staff, as Arizona State picked up its fifth verbal commitment of the 2015 recruiting class. Tony Nicholson, an athlete from Grand Prairie, Tex., has committed to Arizona State.

Nicholson made the news public Saturday morning on Twitter, prior to Arizona State's spring football game.

The 5-foot-9, 171-pound Nicholson holds offers from Baylor, Duke, Indiana, Kansas State, Mississippi, North Carolina and Washington State. He is rated a 3-star prospect according to Rivals, Scout and 24/7 Sports.

Nicholson plays quarterback for South Grand Prairie high school but because of his size projects as a wide receiver or defensive back at the next level.

Head coach Todd Graham and his staff's ties to the state of Texas are paying off so far in this recruiting cycle. Of Arizona State's five commitments for the class of 2015, three of them come from the Lone Star State.
