Get ready to set your DVR. Arizona State announced more kickoff times and which television networks will be carrying its games during the 2014 season on Thursday morning in an official release.
It looks like the Sun Devils are being rewarded for their high ranking and Pac-12 Championship game appearance last season with some more national airtime in 2014. Last year the Sun Devils played eight games on national television including four of their first five contests. Overall the Sun Devils were 6-0 on Pac-12 Networks and 4-4 on national television. They recorded a 2-2 mark on ESPN, 1-1 on FOX, 0-1 on NBC and 1-0 on ESPN2.
It's always a hot topic if national exposure is good for a team regardless of whether or not it is winning or losing. Two losses to Stanford and Texas Tech to end the season on ESPN as well as a tough loss to Stanford on Fox shows that the Sun Devils performance was mediocre in the national spotlight last season
However, it seems like a majority of a national audience was willing to take the 2013 Sun Devils at face value and look at the 2014 edition of the maroon and gold from an objective point of view. Arizona State is still in the national conversation as a team on the rise. The team placed in the top 25 of some very early preseason polls so it seems like the Sun Devils haven't lost any respect in the eyes of the national pundits and will once again have a chance to prove themselves in front of the eyes of millions of people watching in front of their television sets at home.
The Territorial Cup will return to daylight hours for the first time since 2009 so hopefully you have all that Black Friday shopping done in time. Stanford and Notre Dame at home seem like the most likely spots for the "Maroon Monsoon" or "Blackout" game next season but I wouldn't be surprised if the Sun Devils had something special uniform-wise up their sleeve for the UCLA game as well.
