AP Top 25: Sun Devils move up again in AP Poll

Where did they land?

Doug Pensinger

Arizona State rose again in week four of the AP Poll to No.15 when it was released Sunday morning. The Sun Devils also jumped up to No. 13 in the Amway Coaches Poll.

The maroon and gold hung on to beat Colorado on Saturday by a score of 38-24. They jumped out quickly to a 14-0 lead but the Buffaloes came back and Arizona State clinged to a 24-14 lead at halftime. A touchdown catch by Jaelen Strong and an interception by Christian Sam late in the contest helped seal the win for Arizona State. Jordan Simone had 13 tackles and D.J. Foster also carried the load rushing 20 times for 148 yards and a touchdown. Taylor Kelly went down with an injury, but it's unknown how long he might be out.

UCLA remained at No. 12. They barely escaped Texas, playing at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Brett Hundley went down with an elbow injury. Jerry Neuheisel took over and led the Bruins to victory 20-17 after a late fourth quarter touchdown to Jordan Payton. UCLA comes to Tempe in two weeks.

USC dropped all the way down to No. 17 after losing to Boston College. The Trojans were up 10-0 after the first quarter but the Eagles came storming back capped off by a 54-yard Sherman Alston run for the Eagles that put them ahead 20-17 headed into halftime. BC stretched their lead to two scores on a 1-yard Jon Hillman run in the third quarter and never looked back. They finished off the Trojans with a 66-yard touchdown run by Tyler Murphy with 3:30  left in the game.

Oregon remains at No.2 but Stanford dropped one spot to No. 16. The Cardinal easily disposed of Army 35-0 while the Ducks, despite running over a few early bumps in the game, downed Wyoming 48-14.
