After finishing the regular season with a loss to Arizona at No. 15, the Sun Devils jumped up to No. 12 in the final AP poll released early Tuesday morning after the national championship game.
It is the highest finish in the AP Poll for ASU since the 1996 season when the team finished fourth in the AP Poll and the second highest finish since 1986 when the Sun Devils also ended the season fourth in the polls.
The Pac-12 as a whole was well represented. Oregon finished at No.2 after falling to Ohio State in the title game. UCLA ended up No. 10 after polishing off Kansas State in the Alamo Bowl. Arizona dropped to No. 19 after losing to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. USC jumped up to No. 20 after squeaking by Nebraska 45-42 in the Holiday Bowl. Utah also moved up to No. 21 after a 45-10 victory over Colorado State in the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl.
