The Arizona Sun Devils started the half with a 13-play, 65-yard drive. Arizona State kicker Zane Gonzalez snapped his streak of three missed field goals, making a 28-yarder from the middle of the field to tie the game up at 17 points.
On the Oregon Ducks' second play of the ensuing drive, quarterback Vernon Adams threw an interception to Arizona State defensive back Kareem Orr. It took ASU (4-4, 2-3 Pac-12) just four plays to score, with Demario Richard capping it off with a 22-yard touchdown run to take a 24-17 lead.
The Ducks (5-3, 3-2 Pac-12) slowly drove on a possession that was plagued with unnecessary penalties and poor tackling from ASU. The Sun Devils finally got a key third-down stop on Oregon's 10th play, as the Ducks settled with kicker Aiden Schneider's 37-yard field goal to bring the game to 24-20.
ASU continued it's balanced attack with a 1-2 punch from Richard and Kalen Ballage, as Richard found the endzone again on a 1-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Mike Bercovici.
It didn't take long for Oregon to respond. Wide receiver Charles Nelson returned the following kickoff for 100 yards, which happened right as ESPN returned from its television timeout.
AS ASU punted for the first time in the second half, Oregon once again burned the Sun Devils on a big play with Kani Benoit's 62-yard touchdown run to regain the lead at 34-31.
Arizona State got into the red zone on another steady drive. On third down, Mike Bercovici threw the ball to an Oregon defender on third down that was at first ruled an interception in the Ducks' endzone, but was later overturned. ASU settled for another field-goal make from Gonzalez from 33 yards.
After Oregon went three-and-out, the Sun Devils had a quicker drive and got within Oregon's 10. After a few attempts, Bercovici lobbed a floater to Kody Kohl for a 5-yard touchdown to make the game 41-34.
As Oregon again went three-and-out, the Sun Devils had a chance to pull away, but Bercovici threw a pick to Tyree Robinson near midfield.
Using all five minutes, the Ducks got as close to ASU's 10-yard line. After ASU had a key stop on Royce Freeman on third down, Freeman snuck in for one yard to extend the Ducks' drive. After forcing three straight incompletions, Vernon Adams found Dwyane Stanford on a crazy 8-yard touchdown pass that tied the game at 41.
In overtime, Oregon scored immediately on the opening possession with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Stanford. After an ineligible receiver put ASU at first-and-15, Bercovici found Tim White for a 2-yard touchdown on third down.
With ASU start with the ball, the Sun Devils were stagnant in their first two plays, but Bercovici ran for a 18-yard touchdown on a keeper to give ASU a 55-48 advantage.
The Ducks kept rolling on their next possession, as Freeman's 1-yard touchdown run pushed the game to a third overtime.
As Oregon returned, Adams had a 10-yard videogame-like run that kept the drive going, then threw a 20-yard touchdown to Braylon Addison in the back of the endzone that stood after review. The Ducks couldn't get the two-point conversion to go as Adams botched the snap and got sacked.
As ASU crept to Oregon's 3-yard line, Bercovici threw an interception to Arrion Springs that gave the Ducks a win.
