With another crazy weekend in the books, the Pac-12 has once again managed to provide us with a slew of conference-altering upsets. In fact, conference play between these programs will ultimately keep the Pac-12 from boasting a representative in the College Football Playoff representative in January.
With just a few weeks left in the season, there's more parity in the Pac-12 than there ever has been. Below, we take a look at the Pac-12 power rankings according to House of Sparky's Kaelen Jones and Connor Pelton.
The North
Rank | Jones' Picks | Pelton's Picks |
1. | Oregon (+1) | Oregon (+1) |
2. | Stanford (-1) | Stanford (-1) |
3. | Washington State | Washington State |
4. | California (+1) | California |
5. | Washington (-1) | Washington |
6. | Oregon State | Oregon State |
Breakdown
Jones' Picks
So, no playoffs for the Pac-12 this season. Oregon claims this week's top spot after upsetting Stanford while the rest of the division holds form. If there's anything we've had confirmed in the North, it's that the top three teams are a clear step above the lower three.
Pelton's Picks
The Ducks seem to be the clear leader in the North at this point. They have won five of their last six and just spoiled Stanford's playoff hopes on Saturday. The real question here is who deserves to be No. 2? I gave the Cardinal the slight edge over Washington State since they won in Pullman and are still likely going to the Pac-12 title game.
The South
Rank | Jones' Picks | Pelton's Picks |
1. | USC (+1) | USC (+1) |
2. | UCLA (-1) | UCLA (-1) |
3. | Arizona (+2) | Arizona (+2) |
4. | Utah (-1) | Utah (-1) |
5. | Arizona State (-1) | Arizona State (-1) |
6. | Colorado | Colorado |
Breakdown
Jones' Picks
USC's close shave against Colorado and UCLA's heartbreaking loss has them switching positions in my column for the third straight week. Following the ever-evolving suit of the division leaders, the other four teams continue to swap and trade places in my rankings once again this week, reflecting what may be the division featuring the most parity of any in all of college football at the moment.
Pelton's Picks
The Trojans, through all of the turmoil they have faced this season, are the new leader in the South and have a very realistic shot at winning the division. The big mover this week is Arizona, who seems to be hitting its stride entering this week's Territorial Cup matchup in Tempe.
