ASU Basketball: Sun Devils give Bobby Hurley first win, defeat Belmont - Arizona State improved to 1-1 on its young season last night, defeating a good Bruins team in the regional round of the Legends Classic. The victory was Bobby Hurley's first at the helm in Tempe. Guard Gerry Blakes led the way for the maroon and gold, scoring 22 points on his 22nd birthday.
ASU Football: Is five wins enough to get the Sun Devils to a bowl game? - We take a look at a possible scenario where Arizona State could play in a bowl game despite finishing the season 5-7. Todd Graham's team could achieve bowl eligibility the old fashioned way by beating either Arizona or California to close the regular season.
Kickoff for Arizona State's final regular season game against Cal was announced yesterday, and it will be a #Pac12AfterDark affair in Strawberry Canyon. Fox Sports 1 will be televising the 8:00 p.m. (AZ) game.
Everyone's worst fear was confirmed on Monday when Graham announced that safety Jordan Simone was done for the season because of a right knee injury. The senior not only leads the team in tackles per game with 7.8, but he is the national leader as well.
Graham continue to find success on the recruiting trail, most recently landing a commitment from three-star defensive end Koron Crump. Crump, who currently plays at Fort Scott Community College (KS), chose the maroon and gold over Baylor and Tennessee.
ASU Women's Basketball
The football team wasn't the only one that got a recruiting boost yesterday. Charli Turner Thorne's basketball team received a commitment from class of 2017 forward Bre'Yanna Sanders, a six-foot forward out of Fresno, CA.
Former Sun Devils
With Denver Bronco quarterback Peyton Manning struggling to play because of a left foot injury, former Sun Devil Brock Osweiler will be starting on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Osweiler has played in 15 games over the course of his four years in the league, compiling two touchdowns and a 78.1 QB Rating in the process.
