The first half was arguably the worst half the Arizona State Sun Devils have played in the Todd Graham era. ASU looked lifeless and trailed the Washington Huskies 17-3 at the half.
Led by a relentless defense and a power running game, the Sun Devils stormed back in the second half, outscoring the Huskies 24-0 in the game's final 30 minutes.
The Arizona State defense forced four turnovers in the half, but it was a rushing touchdown by Kalen Ballage that sealed the ASU victory.
Play No. 12: Kalen Ballage's 48-yard touchdown run vs. Washington
The Sun Devils lined up in the pistol formation with Ballge a few yards behind quarterback Mike Bercovici and three receivers spread out. Ballage took the handoff and right right through a gaping hole set by Billy McGehee, Kody Kohl and pulling guard Vi Teofilo.
Ballage bounced off a tackle about three yards past the line of scrimmage and squirmed through two Washington defenders at the UW 40-yard line. He evaded a tackle attempt from a Washington defensive back Budda Baker at the 30-yard line and scampered into the end zone to give ASU a 27-17 lead with just under six minutes to play in the game.
Ballage will be featured a few more times in our countdown of ASU's 12-best plays of the season. For now, enjoy his game-sealing touchdown run against the Huskies.
