If you ask any Sun Devil fan which game on the ASU football schedule is most important, all of them will say the Territorial Cup against the Arizona Wildcats. Some will even say if ASU went 1-11, but that one win was against Arizona, that is a successful season.
The Sun Devils went into the 2015 edition of the Territorial Cup fresh off a 27-17 victory against Washington that snapped a three-game losing streak. Arizona, without a bye week in 2015, was playing its final game of the season with a 6-5 record.
There were plenty of twists and turns in Sun Devil Stadium that day. Arizona was playing with its third-string quarterback, they returned a Mike Bercovici pass for a touchdown and completed a 95-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter. Yet, the Wildcats still lost by 15 as the Sun Devils put up a season-high 52 points.
Our No. 8 play of the ASU football season put the Sun Devils up 14-0 late in the first quarter and led to a breakout final two games for one Sun Devil receiver.
Play No. 8: Devin Lucien's 59-yard touchdown reception against Arizona
Devin Lucien lined up at the bottom of the formation as ASU used a three-wide formation with Kalen Ballage next to Bercovici in the gun. The Sun Devils faked an end around as the Wildcats rushed four.
Lucien ran a post route and ran behind two Arizona defenders as Bercovici released the pass about eight yards behind the line of scrimmage.
The pass hit Lucien in the chest at the Arizona 23-yard line and the receiver ran untouched the rest of the way for a touchdown to give ASU a 14-0 lead with 1:07 left to play in the first quarter.
Lucien caught nine passes for 190 yards and that touchdown against the Wildcats in ASU's 52-37 victory.
