Television is a powerful thing. Apparently, it even has the power to move football game times and dates.
The Pac-12 asked ASU to move its Saturday, Sept. 19 game with New Mexico up a day to Friday, Sept. 18 and the Sun Devils have complied with that request.
The move allows ASU to avoid eight games that were planned to be televised by either ESPN, ABC, FOX or Pac-12 Networks on that Saturday. The Sun Devils have a good history on Friday nights at Sun Devil Stadium, the only previous September Friday night game occurred on Sept. 9, 2011 when ASU and Mizzou squared off in Tempe. The Sun Devils won that game 37-30 in overtime.
It also allows ASU an extra day of preparation before they open up their Pac-12 slate with USC on Sept. 26. The Sun Devils open their 2015 season on Sept. 5 against Texas A&M in the Advocare Texas Kickoff at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
