ASU Football: Mason Walter signs with the Sun Devils

The Chaparral High connection continues for Arizona State

Student Sports

Three-star offensive tackle commit Mason Walter signed with ASU Wednesday, seven months after making his initial commitment to the Sun Devils.

Walter, from Chaparral High School in Temecula, Calif. (a school that is becoming a pipeline for the maroon and gold), is rated as the No. 79 offensive tackle in the nation. He is rated as the No. 94 player in the state of California by ESPN.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Walter held offers from Oregon, Boise State, and Duke, among others. He didn't actually take his official visit to Tempe until just a few weeks ago, when coach Todd Graham and the staff firmed up his commitment. He did take an unofficial visit to the campus back in March. Rivals and ESPN both give Walter a three-star rating. Rivals ranks Walter at No. 52 at his position and No. 66 in the state of California.
