In 2014, the Coppell, Texas native was third on the team with 41 receptions for 596 yards. He also finished second on the team with six receiving touchdowns. As a freshman in 2013, he had eight receptions for 129 yards in 11 games. Smith was one of the Sun Devils top wide receivers returning this season.
The maroon and gold will now lean on D.J. Foster who is moving out to slot wide receiver as well as redshirt sophomore Ellis Jefferson, redshirt senior Gary Chambers and redshirt junior Fred Gammage for production this season. Given Mike Bercovici's arm strength and Smith's skill set as a speedy downfield threat, it's a significant loss for the Sun Devils.
