New ASU basketball coach Bobby Hurley added to his staff Friday in the form of Brian Merritt, the Director of Recruiting for John Lucas Camps. Jeff Goodman of ESPN was first on Twitter with the news.
Bobby Hurley's staff at Arizona State, per sources: Retained Stan Johnson, brought Levi Watkins and added Brian Merritt (John Lucas Camps).

Merritt walked on at Towson and then went on to Louisville where he was a graduate assistant under Rick Pitino and matriculated to Director of Basketball Operations for the Cardinals. Recently he has worked as the director of scouting and recruiting for John Lucas Enterprises, which hosts basketball camps and events around the country. They work with future NBA players in pre-draft camps all the way down through the elementary school level to help players develop skills.
Hurley brought Levi Watkins with him from Buffalo and Stan Johnson was brought on by Herb Sendek, an assistant he kept. Although it's much to early to judge the hire, Merritt's connections to John Lucas should help in recruiting.
