Report: Sai Tummala to transfer from ASU

The Sun Devils have another open roster spot

Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

Bobby Hurley now has another open scholarship to use. According to Verbal Commits, ASU forward Sai Tummala will transfer out of the Sun Devil basketball program.

He didn't see much time on the court, but was known for his time in the classroom. He maintained a 4.0 GPA in his time in Barrett, The Honors College and took the MCAT in the middle of the 2014-15 season. Tummala graduated from Brophy Prep, redshirted a year at Michigan, and played at Salt Lake Community College in 2012-13 before coming to ASU.

He was a marginal role player in his time as a Sun Devil. In 14 games last season he averaged 4.2 minutes and 1 point per game. It might not be too long before ASU can fill Tummala's spot. A report released by Jeff Goodman of ESPN Tuesday has Buffalo transfer Shannon Evans leaning toward rejoining his old coach in Tempe.
