ASU Football: Damarious Randall selected by the Green Bay Packers with the 30th overall pick

He becomes the first ASU defensive player to be selected in the first round since Terrell Suggs in 2003.

ASU had only two returning players to its defense coming into 2014. One of them just got drafted. The Green Bay Packers selected ASU safety Damarious Randall with the 30th selection in the 2015 NFL Draft. He joins former Sun Devil linebacker Carl Bradford in Wisconsin.

Randall becomes the first ASU defensive player to be selected in the first round since Terrell Suggs in 2003.

Randall was an interesting case as the season ended. It seemed a foregone conclusion he would go pro, but just how far, no one seemed to agree. Once the offseason began, he began to skyrocket up draft boards, including being rated as the top safety available by Mike Mayock of NFL Network.

Randall had some big moments at ASU, but arguably none bigger than his performance last season against Notre Dame, putting the Sun Devils up by 21 with a 59-yard pick-six, his only touchdown of the season. Overall, he finished with a team-high 106 tackles, 9.5 tackles-for-loss, a sack, 12 passes defended, four fumbles forced and three interceptions. He was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team.
