The 2014-15 college basketball season ended Monday night when Duke took down Wisconsin in the National Championship game. Among those cutting down the nets was Blue Devils associate head coach Jeff Capel, who has declined to speak about the open ASU job while the Duke season was still happening.

With the season now finished, Doug Haller of AZ Central reported Tuesday morning that the Sun Devils are "expected" to have a new man in charge soon and it could still be Capel. The ASU beat writer had this to say:

Arizona State is expected to announce its new men's basketball coach soon, maybe within the next 48 hours. Jeff Capel remains the front-runner.

He also reported that ASU interviewed former assistant Scott Pera for the opening on Saturday. The Sun Devils didn't hire a search firm so it's on Anderson to find the man for the job. It took him 15 days to find a replacement for Tim Esmay in Tracy Smith last summer. Today marks the 14th day ASU doesn't have a basketball coach but it looks like that could change soon.
