Arizona State offensive lineman Nick Kelly has been named to the Rimington Award Watch List, the Trophy committee announced Tuesday morning. The award honors the most outstanding center in Division 1 college football.
Kelly was one of seven Pac-12 offensive linemen to be named to the 52-member Spring Watch List. The only conference to have more players recognized was the SEC. Along with Kelly the other Pac-12 members include: Alex Kelly (Colorado), Josh Mitchell (Oregon State), Graham Shuler (Stanford), Jake Brendel (UCLA), Max Tuerk (USC) and Siaosi Aiono (Utah).
A senior from Orangevale, Calif., Kelly started all 14 games in 2014, earning Second Team All-Pac-12 honors for both his on-field performance and for academics. This past spring, he was named a co-captain by his teammates.
Kelly is the sixth Sun Devil to be named to the Rimington Watch List and the first since Kody Koebensky in 2013. Other Sun Devils to make the list include: Garth Gerhart (2011), Mike Pollack (2007), Grayling Love (2005) and Scott Peters (2001).
Kelly, along with guard Christian Westerman, will anchor the Sun Devil offensive line in 2015.
