ASU Football: Sun Devils switching sidelines beginning next season

The Sun Devils will move their operations from the east sideline to the west sideline beginning in 2015.

There will be a lot of change for the ASU football program in the coming years. Sun Devil Stadium is receiving a facelift, which has already begun. The entire athletic program will be switching apparel sponsors, from Nike to adidas, beginning in July.

Now, the football team will have a new location inside of Sun Devil Stadium as the athletic program announced Thursday morning that the team will be moving from the east sideline to the west sideline starting next season.

"There are many competitive advantages to changing our home sideline to the west side of the field, including getting us out of the sun during day games," Coach Graham said in a statement. "We already have the best home field advantage in the nation, and this will only enhance that even more."

Graham has wanted to make the move since arriving at Arizona State, however the Pac-12 Conference prohibits a student section from being directly behind an opponent's bench. However, starting next season ASU will implement the "Double Inferno" with student seating moving to the north and south end zones.

On television, the Sun Devils will now be located at the bottom of the screen instead of on top of the screen. ASU's home schedule opens on September 12 against Cal Poly.
