Sports betting odds and lines are usually regarded as a solid baseline in determining favorites and underdogs in games. With the 2015 college football season two months away, several offshore sportsbooks are releasing their projections for major games.
SportsInsights.com released its lines Tuesday for all games in the first week of the season, as well for many key matchups later in the fall.
Here is what the site projected for some of Arizona State's games this upcoming season:
Sept. 5
Arizona State vs. Texas A&M (-4) | Over/under: 70.5
Sept. 18
New Mexico at Arizona State (-28)
Sept. 26
USC (-2.5) at Arizona State
Oct. 3
Arizona State at UCLA (-5)
Oct. 29
Oregon (-1.5) at Arizona State
Other than the New Mexico game, it looks like ASU will be an underdog, albeit via a small margin, for four of its games — two at home and two away from Tempe. It should be worth nothing that while USC, UCLA and Oregon finished ahead of ASU in the final 2014-15 polls and all will certainly be ranked higher in preseason polls, Texas A&M finished last season unranked while ASU finished 12th in the AP Top 25. Early preseason rankings, like Athlon Sports' Top 25, are still ranking Texas A&M below Arizona State.
5Dimes.com, another offshore sportsbook, set Arizona State's regular season wins line at 8.5 last May.
