Two players, two medals. The women's team was represented at the 2015 World University Games in South Korea by senior guard Katie Hempen and junior center Quinn Dornstauder. Hempen and Team USA were victorious in today's gold-medal game over Dornstauder and Canada by a final score of 82-63. The game was broadcasted live on ESPNU and WatchESPN at 2 a.m. this morning, Arizona time.

ASU Basketball Recruiting

In recruiting news, men's basketball target Marvin Bagley had an outstanding weekend at the Nike Peach Jam. The 6-foot-10, 210-pound forward averaged 29 points and 14 rebounds a game in the Nike Sweet 16.

According to Scout.com, the Sun Devils are among eight other schools who have expressed early interest in Bagley. The Corona del Sol product is currently the No. 8-ranked prospect on the Scout's Ultimate 100 list. However, the Sun Devils will have to fend off the likes of Duke, Kentucky, Connecticut and Arizona in order to land him.

In case you missed it, throughout the past week the Sun Devils have been well-represented in preseason awards watch list releases...

Maxwell: Quarterback Mike Bercovici, Receiver D.J. Foster

Bednarik: Cornerback Lloyd Carrington

Rimington: Center Nick Kelly

Groza: Placekicker Zane Gonzalez

Outland: Center Nick Kelly, Guard Christian Westerman

Today, the preseason watch list for the Thorpe Award (given to the nation's top defensive back) will be released. It shouldn't appear as a surprise to see cornerback Lloyd Carrington's name show up somewhere on that list, since he tweeted last week his gratitude for being considered for the award and lobbied his campaign for it in the process.

Here's to all of the Sun Devils campaigning both via social media and their stellar play in their hopes of winning some hardware this season.
