Thon Maker impresses at Under Armour Camp - ASU football, especially in the Todd Graham era, has made a habit out of recruiting and landing top-tier players. But ASU basketball, outside of the Jahii Carson commitment that briefly made the team nationally-competitive, has struggled to land marque players. But when Bobby Hurley arrived, he brought with him the interest of Thon Maker, a consensus five-star who's been on the recruiting map since middle school. ASU is considered one of the top destinations for Maker, so naturally every move he makes is going to be news in Tempe. This week Maker's participating in the Under Armour All-America, and Rivals reported that he's living up to his five-star billing so far.
Nick Kelly named to Rimington Trophy Watch List - Wednesday saw the Sun Devil center get named to the watch list for the award given out annually to college football's top center. The announcement is just another in a long line of award watch lists that ASU football has received this week, including the nomination of D.J. Foster and Michael Bercovici for the Maxwell Award as well as Lloyd Carrington for the Bednarik Award.
Opponent Primer: Texas A&M - We take a look at the season that the Texas A&M Aggies underwent in 2014, who are slated to open their second season post-Johnny Football in Reliant Stadium against the Sun Devils. The primer evaluates the changes from the 2014 team that went 8-5 while starting two freshman quarterbacks to the team that is projected by some to make a run at the College Football Playoff in 2015, as well as detailing reasons for optimism and pessimism ahead of ASU's clash with the Aggies.
ASU Equipment shows off more Adidas gear - Last week ASU's official transition from Nike to Adidas was made, and the slow roll out of the school's new aesthetics has been interesting to see. We compiled the threads released last week, but on Wednesday the ASU equipment staff decided to let some new training gear reach the public eye.
Check out the ASU Equipment link to look at all of the new clothing the equipment staff showcased, but here are a couple of the notable items. One of them is really sweet, the other is......less than sweet. I'll let you decide which is which. It's inevitable now that ASU will receive the same weird geometric designs in the gear that Adidas has unfortunately made a staple of its athletic apparel.
