Arizona State's home schedule for the 2015-16 basketball season was finalized on Thursday as the Gazelle Group released its pairings for the regional round of the Legends Classic.
After their season opener against Sacramento State on November 13, the Sun Devils will return to the court three nights later for their Legends Classic opener against Belmont. The strongest of the possible four opponents for the maroon and gold, the Bruins are coming off their fifth consecutive postseason appearance. They posted a 22-11 record last season and nearly toppled No. 2 seed Virginia in their NCAA Tournament opener. With six of their top seven leading scorers all returning this fall, this team should give ASU all it can handle.
The second of the two regional round games for Bobby Hurley's team doesn't figure to be as challenging. Kennesaw State will come calling on November 19, bringing a 10-22 mark from a year ago with them. One of those 22 losses came at California to the tune of a 34-point rout, the same building where Arizona State dominated the Golden Bears for a 35-point win later in the season.
Following their meeting with the Owls, the Sun Devils will take the weekend off and make the long trip to New York, where the semifinals and championship/third place game of the tournament await them at the Barclays Center. They will face either NC State, LSU, or Marquette in the semifinal, and those matchups will be announced later this summer.
