Once a week, we will update you on some of the happenings with the ASU olympic sports. So far, only two sports at ASU have begun and both teams have started strong.

ASU Soccer

After reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament to conclude their run last season, ASU soccer kicked off the new season notching a 3-0 win at home over Portland State. All three of the team's starting forwards scored, including senior Cali Farquharson, en route to head coach Kevin Boyd reaching career win No. 200.

The Sun Devils followed the opener with an exhibition against Beijing Normal University which ended as a scoreless draw.

ASU would make its first appearance of the year in the top-25 polls, coming in at No. 22 before making easy work of UNLV in a 6-0 win at home.

The group's third scheduled game against San Diego State was stopped early due to heavy rainstorms affecting the integrity of the pitch.

As of September 2, the Sun Devils are 2-0, with their next match scheduled for Friday against San Diego State. Farquharson leads the team in total points (8) with three goals and two assists.

ASU Volleyball

The Sun Devils opened the season ranked No. 16 in the country.

The team opened the season with a sweep of Northeastern at the Falcon Classic, followed by a 3-2 win over New Mexico State and a sweep of Air Force to finish 3-0 at the tournament.

Their next match will come against Colorado State at the CSU/UNC Tournament in Colorado on Friday.
