Thursday's basketball game between the Arizona State Sun Devils and the Oregon State Beavers had some extra value when 942 Crew, ASU's student section, announced Olympic swimmer would join the famous Curtain of Distraction for the game.
Phelps' appearance didn't disappoint.
When Beavers guard Stephen Thompson Jr. got to the free throw line with 13:47 left in the second half, Phelps had his moment to shine — donning nothing but a speedo, a swim camp and a few gold medals.
Thompson missed both free throws.

Phelps moved to Tempe in May to train on the Arizona State campus under longtime coach Bob Bowman, who coaches at ASU. Phelps is expected to join Bowman as a volunteer assistant at ASU following the 2016 Olympics.
