Just when you thought things were starting to settle down throughout the conference, a wild week in the Pac-12 turned the league on its head once again.
Utah went up to Berkeley and got upset by California. Washington is now the conference's only undefeated team after trouncing Stanford on Friday night.
Yes, craziness appears to be the new normal in the Pac-12.
Below, Kaelen Jones and I try making sense of it all in our weekly conference power rankings.
Pac-12 North
Rank | Pelton | Jones |
1. | Washington | Washington |
2. | California | Stanford |
3. | Stanford | Washington State |
4. | Washington State | California |
5. | Oregon | Oregon |
6. | Oregon State | Oregon State |
Closer Look
Washington's blowout of the Cardinal makes them our consensus pick atop the North, and Oregon and Oregon State's recent struggles make the teams easy picks at No. 5 and No. 6.
California, Stanford, and Washington State, meanwhile, continue to share votes at spots three through four. Those positions should receive a little clarity after next weekend since the Cougars will face David Shaw's team on Saturday.
Pac-12 South
Rank | Pelton | Jones |
1. | Colorado | Colorado |
2. | UCLA | USC |
3. | Utah | Utah |
4. | USC | UCLA |
5. | Arizona State | Arizona State |
6. | Arizona | Arizona |
Closer Look
Colorado (!) is the unanimous pick at No. 1 after posting a 41-point win over Oregon State this past weekend. The Buffaloes are now 4-1 with a trip to the LA Memorial Coliseum on tap for Saturday.
Arizona State fell to fifth in both of our polls after its blowout loss at the hands of previously 1-3 USC.
