Finally, some turnover.
After a few weeks of consensus picks at the top of each division, Utah's loss (coupled with another commanding win for USC) pushed the Trojans to the top of the Pac-12 South. You can see below where Kaelen Jones and I have each of the other 11 remaining teams.
Pac-12 North
Rank | Pelton | Jones |
1. | Washington | Washington |
2. | Washington State | Washington State |
3. | Stanford | Stanford |
4. | California | Oregon |
5. | Oregon | California |
6. | Oregon State | Oregon State |
Closer Look
The top half of this division now matches the top three in the North Division standings. The bottom half is slightly more jumbled, but Kaelen and I do agree that Oregon State slides to sixth after its tight loss against Washington State.
Pac-12 South
Rank | Pelton | Jones |
1. | USC | USC |
2. | Utah | Utah |
3. | Colorado | Colorado |
4. | UCLA | Arizona State |
5. | Arizona State | UCLA |
6. | Arizona | Arizona |
Closer Look
That may have been as good a loss as a team can have, but eventually we have to reward the hottest team in the division. USC has now won four consecutive games and overtakes Utah for the top spot.
Arizona State's stumble in Eugene drops them to fifth in one ballot and fourth in the other. The Sun Devils and Utes both have a bye to lick their wounds and prepare for their Thursday night showdown at Sun Devil Stadium in 10 days.
