Cunliffe, a freshman out of Seattle, averaged 9.5 points and 4.8 rebounds across the first 10 games of the 2016-17 season for Arizona State.
The team’s fifth-leading scorer, Cunliffe played at least 20 minutes of each game save for the first two contests of the season. His best game came in a 23-point outburst against The Citadel, but the guard also had back-to-back 14-point efforts in the team’s next two outings.
A four-star recruit out of high school, Cunliffe held offers from Gonzaga, Utah, and Colorado (among others) before deciding on the Sun Devils.
This year’s team is off to a 6-4 start, fresh off a road upset of San Diego State on Saturday.
UPDATE: Cunliffe issued this statement via Twitter on Monday night, seemingly indicating that a decision to transfer was not definite.
