Subtyl is a 6-foot-4, 245-pound outside linebacker from Bunnell, Florida. He spent the last two seasons playing at Victor Valley Junior College and will have two years of eligibility remaining once officially enrolled at ASU.
In two seasons, Subtyl racked up 97 tackles, including 39 tackles for loss and 27 sacks.
Scout.com lists Subtyl as the No. 15-ranked JUCO prospect of the 2016 class. He is listed as a 4-star prospect and has a 0.8975 composite score from 247Sports.com, which is the 14th-best score amongst all JUCO prospects and No. 1 amongst weak-side defensive ends. Rivals lists Subtyl as a 4-star strong-side defensive end.
Subtyl, who originally made a verbal commitment to the Sun Devils on October 22, 2015, is expected to see immediate time at the Devilbacker position.

After dismissing a potential starter at Devilbacker in Ismael Murphy-Richardson (who was excused from the team for an arrest linking him to credit card fraud in January), the Sun Devils will hope Subtyl can immediately provide production from a position they've rotated multiple players through over the course of the past few seasons.
