For the first time in recent memory, the Arizona State Sun Devils will open its fall practices this year in Camp Tontozona, visiting its annual campsite in Payson from Aug. 2-6, the team announced Thursday.
The Sun Devils typically open their fall camp in Tempe near the first week of August before spending half a week in Camp Tontozona midway through.
The Sun Devils will hold their first practice of the year on Aug. 3, exactly one month before the team opens at home against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Sept. 3, and will host its signature final scrimmage on Aug. 6.
This is the fifth straight year coach Todd Graham has taken ASU to Camp Tontozona, a seasonal tradition started by legendary coach Frank Kush in 1960 that was briefly discontinued prior to Graham's arrival.
