ASU Basketball: Prized target Thon Maker, still in high school, plans to enter 2016 NBA Draft

Well, this was unexpected...

Arizona State Sun Devils coach Bobby Hurley might lose his prized prospect to the NBA.

2016 five-star center Thon Maker announced his intentions to declare for the 2016 NBA Draft through a Bleacher Report video, pending clearance from the NBA to grant his eligibility:

The problem? Maker, though 19 years old, is still in high school attending Orangeville District Secondary School in Ontario, Canada. The NBA mandates all prospects to be one year removed from high school in order to be eligible for the NBA Draft.

It looks like Maker hasn't ruled out Arizona State as a collegiate choice, as the Sun Devils' logo was shown in the video along with the St. John's Red Storm, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Kansas Jayhawks and Indiana Hoosiers.

We're not sure what argument Maker could make for draft eligibility, but expect for him to jump straight to the pros if the NBA ends up clearing him.
