Week two of the 2016 season is now in the books, and the week was a good one for the Pac-12 conference.
The league finished Saturday with a record of 8-2 as California and Washington State lost to the top two teams in the Mountain West, marking the only blemishes throughout the conference.
Below, Kaelen Jones and I deliver our second batch of Pac-12 power rankings.
Pac-12 North
Rank | Pelton | Jones |
1. | Washington | Stanford |
2. | Stanford | Washington |
3. | Oregon | California |
4. | Oregon State | Oregon |
5. | California | Oregon State |
6. | Washington State | Washington State |
Closer Look
We both agree Washington and Stanford are the top two teams in the division, but the order is differed upon through two weeks of play. The Cardinal open Pac-12 play on Saturday night against USC, a game that should tell us a lot about where both teams are at this point in the season. The only consensus pick in the North was Washington State in last, who is now 0-2 after a tight loss at Boise State.
Pac-12 South
Rank | Pelton | Jones |
1. | Utah | UCLA |
2. | UCLA | USC |
3. | Arizona State | Arizona State |
4. | Colorado | Colorado |
5. | USC | Utah |
6. | Arizona | Arizona |
Closer Look
Utah and UCLA are the ones splitting first-place votes down South. The Utes are now 2-0 after a one-point victory against rival BYU, while the Bruins responded nicely from their heartbreaking loss at Texas A&M by blowing UNLV out of the Rose Bowl late. Arizona State is the consensus No. 3 pick after its wild win against Texas Tech.
