Freshman forward Romello White will sit out the 2016-17 season as an academic redshirt after failing to meet NCAA academic requirements, per Doug Haller of AZ Central.
White, a four-star prospect, was the third player head coach Bobby Hurley had added to his 2016 recruiting class that was rated as such joining a group which features forward Sam Cunliffe and center Jethro Tshisumpa.
The 6-foot-8, 220-pound White—who played at IMG Academy in Florida—was also a member of his recruiting class’ ESPN Top 100 prospect list.
White will be permitted to practice, however he was expected to contribute during his freshman season with the Sun Devils having already lost center Eric Jacobsen and forwards Willie Atwood and Savon Goodman following the 2015-16 campaign.
