Alexander and ASU head coach Todd Graham both joined the Sun Devils ahead of the 2012 season and worked together through the past five years developing a potent passing attack. He was the last remaining staff member from Graham’s original group he began his tenure in Tempe with.
Alexander was crucial in the development of multiple former receivers currently in the NFL, including New England Patriot Devin Lucien and Houston Texan Jaelen Strong, who combined for 3,361 total yards and 25 touchdowns during three seasons in Tempe.
A look back at Jaelen Strong’s career as a Sun Devil:
Devin Lucien officially made the Patriots roster last spring and is looking to do the same in the coming months. Here’s a look at what NFL Draft analysts had to say about the former Sun Devil in 2016.
Other players Alexander helped develop include 2016 breakout receiver Tim White, who led all Sun Devil receivers with 713 yards, despite playing through multiple injuries this season.
It is unclear who will step in to Alexander’s role for the 2017-18 season, but according to Sun Devil Source, special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum is being considered to take over the role, depending on how the rest of the coaching search goes.
