Arizona State will open the season with its only Thursday (and only weekday) game of the year, an Aug. 31 date with the New Mexico State Aggies. The Sun Devils will then close out their non-conference slate with a couple of intriguing matchups, facing the San Diego State Aztecs in Tempe on Sept. 9 and the Texas Tech Red Raiders at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock on Sept. 16.
San Diego State finished the 2016 season ranked 25th in the AP Poll, one of six opponents on next year’s slate to finish inside the top-25.
Arizona State opens Pac-12 play and closes the month of September with a couple of contests against Pac-12 North foes, first facing the Oregon Ducks at Sun Devil Stadium on Sept. 23, then traveling to The Farm to play the Stanford Cardinal one week later.
After their lone bye week, the team faces an incredibly tough four-game stretch.
The Sun Devils will face the Washington Huskies, USC Trojans, and Colorado Buffaloes all at home, with a road tilt in Salt Lake City against the Utah Utes sandwiched between the Washington and USC games. All four of those teams finished last season ranked nationally.
The schedule won’t get much easier after that, as the Maroon and Gold have their only multi-game road trip scheduled at the back end of that hellacious stretch. That trip will start at the Rose Bowl against the UCLA Bruins on Nov. 11, then finish seven days later up in Corvallis against the Oregon State Beavers.
The regular season will conclude with a visit from the rival Arizona Wildcats, who come to Tempe two days after Thanksgiving on Nov. 25. The game will mark the 92nd playing of the Territorial Cup.
Kickoff times and television arrangements will be announced at later dates. You can view the full schedule here.
