VIDEO: Tshisumpa ejected after scrum vs. Colorado

Things got feisty for a second there.

The Arizona State Sun Devils are hosting the Colorado Buffaloes in their Pac-12 home opener at Wells Fargo Arena.

It’s been an intense battle thus far, and just before the half, things got a little chippy between ASU center Jethro Tshisumpa and Colorado forward Xavier Johnson.‪

With 1:27 to go in the first half, Johnson was fouled while going up for a layup when Tshisumpa crashed into him late.

From there, the situation escalated as Johnson appeared to swing at Tshisumpa, provoking the 6-foot-10 freshman to react. The Sun Devil big man — bearing a 7-foot-5 wingspan — had to be held back by several players and coaches as he attempted to get to Johnson.

Both players were ejected.

Johnson was leading Colorado with 13 points.

For Tshisumpa, he was removed after putting together one of the best outings of his career, posting two points, one rebounds, and three blocks without contracting any personal fouls in eight minutes of play.

With Tshisumpa gone, ASU is down to six available scholarship players. (Forward Andre Adams is already sitting out the contest with knee tendinitis.)

The Sun Devils led 41-37 at halftime, but action is still underway. Check back into House of Sparky for post-game coverage.
