The ASU Women’s Golf team is coming home from Chicago with a victory.
The lady Devils traveled to Northmoor Country Club in Highland Park, Illinois to face Northwestern University, Oklahoma State, Duke, Michigan State, Florida, Arizona, Purdue, Iowa State, Ohio State, Cal, San Diego State, Oregon, UC Davis and Tulane.
As a team, the Sun Devils (+1) finished three strokes ahead of No. 8 Oklahoma State (+4) in second and 13 ahead of No. 10 Michigan State (+14) in third.
The story of the weekend was junior Linea Strom’s performance as she came in second place overall. Strom went minus five on the weekend to complete her second consecutive tournament of being in the top-10. Another major contribution was sophomore Olivia Mehaffey’s career low 65 on round one to lift the Devils to second place.
“It was a tough day of competing as we were neck and neck with Oklahoma State all day,” Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye said, according to thesundevils.com. “This was a complete team effort by all five players and I am very proud of how each one of them competed today.”
ASU has a short turnaround before the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas next week (Oct. 9-10). With a busy month of October, the Sun Devils play four tournaments, including the Pac-12 Preview (Oct. 23-24) and East Lake Cup (Oct. 30-Nov. 1) later this month to close the fall season.
