The 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward averaged 2.6 points and two rebounds per game last season, providing depth to the Sun Devils’ thin roster. He played his most minutes (25) against Oregon State and scored a season high, seven points against Colorado.
Vila played 27 minutes total minutes in Arizona State’s three exhibition games in preseason, as he scored eight points and corralled five rebounds.
As a Barcelona, Spain native, Vila played with the Spanish national team in the 2017 U20 European Championships and won gold with the team in 2016.
Vila is the third Sun Devil big man to transfer since the end of last season, as he left following Jethro Tshisumpa who left the program in March before Andre Adams fled in April.
With an array of frontcourt talent, the Sun Devils are stacked with Romello White, Vitaly Shibel, Kimani Lawrence and De’Quon Lake. Mickey Mitchell will be available in the spring semester and Carlton Bragg and Zylan Cheatman are eligible in the 2018-19 season.
