Coming off a blowout loss to USC the week before, the Arizona State Sun Devils were in need of a home win to keep pace for bowl eligibility.
After trailing for most of the night, the Sun Devils grabbed their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter.
With a four-point lead, ASU got the ball on its own 15-yard line with 2:57 left in the game, giving the Sun Devils a chance to put the game on ice.
That’s when it happened.
Senior running back Demario Richard burst through the line for a 60-yard burst, changing field position and putting ASU in the driver’s seat. Redshirt junior quarterback Manny Wilkins capped the drive with a touchdown, catapulted the Sun Devils to their fifth win of the season.
Richard finished the night with 189 yards on 25 carries, a season-high in both categories, and scored a touchdown in the 41-30 win.
