The Arizona State Sun Devils (7-5) will travel just over 400 miles to El Paso, Texas for a matchup with the No. 24 North Carolina State Wolfpack (8-4) in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 29, 2017 at 1 p.m. MT.

This is Arizona State’s 30th trip to a bowl game and sixth to the Sun Bowl. ASU holds a a 3-1-1 record in the Sun Bowl with a 14-14-1 bowl record overall.
In the Sun Devils’ first ever bowl game, ASU tied Catholic University in a defensive 0-0 tie in the 1940 Sun Bowl. ASU has Sun Bowl wins against Iowa (1997), Purdue (2004) and Duke (2004) and one loss to Western Reserve in 1941.
North Carolina State makes its first Sun Bowl appearance in the history of the program.
The Wolfpack hold a 16-13-1 bowl record and will play in a bowl game for the fourth consecutive season.
The Sun Devils have a 1-1 overall record against NC State. The two will meet for the first time since 1974 when Lou Hultz coached the Wolfpack to 34-17 victory over Frank Kush and the Sun Devils. Kush beat NC State in his first meeting with the Wolfpack in 1960.
