Slade was originally a three-star from Montclair High School (New Jersey) where he accepted an offer to play for Ohio State in 2014. Prior to committing to the Buckeyes, Slade was offered by Arizona State and decommitted from both Michigan State and Nebraska.
After taking a redshirt in 2014, Slade saw the field in seven games for the Buckeyes in the 2015 season. At 6-foot-4, 255 pounds, Slade played a career-most 12 plays against Rutgers and won the 2015 NCAA National Championship in Glendale, Arizona.
The following year, Slade sustained a lower leg injury in fall camp that sidelined him for the entire 2016 season.
Slade, being a junior, will have two years of eligibility and earn a scholarship as a member of the 2018 class as a blueshirt, according to Devilsdigest.
In his senior season of high school, Slade recorded 23.5 sacks and 67 tackles. His high school highlights can be viewed below.
