ASU Basketball: Sun Devils drop a spot to No. 4 in AP Poll

Could be worse.

The Arizona State Sun Devils (12-1, 0-1 Pac-12) are no longer undefeated, but they’re still a top-5 team, according to the AP Poll. After losing in Tucson Saturday, the Sun Devils come in at No. 4 in the first poll of 2018.

ASU was the last of the unbeaten teams in the country, outlasting now-No. 3 Villanova by a matter of hours after the Wildcats lost to Butler and now-No. 16 TCU, who lost to No. 7 Oklahoma.

The only other ranked Pac-12 team to receive votes is the one that just ended ASU’s unbeaten run. The Arizona Wildcats rose three spots to No. 14 and have won eight games in a row following losing three straight in the Battle 4 Atlantis.

This week, the Sun Devils will continue Pac-12 play this weekend on their Rocky Mountain roadtrip, facing the Colorado Buffaloes (8-6, 0-2) Thursday and the Utah Utes Sunday (10-3, 2-0).
