Cherry recently completed his official visit to Tempe last weekend for ASU’s games against Oregon and Oregon State. He is the 22nd-best player in the 2018 class, according to ESPN and 27th-best, per 247Sports.
This season at Foothills Christian High School (CA), Cherry is averaging 20.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
Cherry had originally committed to USC in June, but decommitted in late December. The Los Angeles Times reported he was “player-8” involved in a federal criminal complaint against USC associate head coach Tony Bland. However, his mother said it was not true.
Cherry is the third player set to join the Sun Devils next season, along with five-star Luguentz Dort and four-star Elias Valtonen. They will be followed by four-star Jaelen House in 2019, five-star Kyree Walker in 2020 and Mike Foster in 2021.
