Injury Update

Casey Tucker returned to action working with the first-team offense at left tackle. Tucker missed last weekend’s game against Oregon State.

Jay Jay Wilson was not dressed for practice as he remains out with a lower body injury.

Malik Lawal was dressed but didn’t participate with the first team during 11-on-11 drills. Lawal was doing push ups by the training staff during practice.

What went on?

Tuesday’s practice was the first time that ASU used their pitchfork decal on the helmet.

The offensive line was able to return back to full strength with the return of Casey Tucker. The main drills run by the offensive line were run blocking techniques, which included incorporating the tight ends.

The linebackers worked on shedding initial blocks and then tackling their opponents in the backfield. With two players from the unit missing practice, the group was forced to incorporate players from the scout team for drills.

The quarterbacks and wide receivers worked on route running together and going through easy throws at about half speed.

The Sun Devil secondary continued to work on covering routes and footwork while practicing intercepting passes to work on their hands.

In the 11-on-11 drills, the offense struggled early. Cohl Cabral botched a couple of snaps early as plays were blown dead before they could develop. There was also a false start penalty called on the offense, caused by the defense.

Wilkins did find some success later in the drill, as he hit both Frank Darby and Brandon Aiyuk for deep passes later in the segment. Jalen Harvey also knocked a pass away that was intended for Kyle Williams and almost intercepted the pass.
