Injury Update
The players that spent practice in the bubble were quarterback Ryan Kelley and wide receiver John Humphrey. Wide receiver Ryan Newsome was seen in a walking boot. Linebacker Jay Jay Wilson was limited.
What went on
The normal drills went on, the offensive line did their shuffle drills as a unit. The defensive line worked with coach Shaun Nua on footwork. Defensive backs worked in coverage and ball skills.
The linebackers worked with coach Antonio Pierce on working through blocks and getting to the quarterback. The drill also asked the linebackers to strip the ball, despite being improved on defense the Sun Devils haven’t created enough turnovers.
The two squads worked on the two-minute drill that was won by the offense. Manny Wilkins was about to find Frank Darby on about 20-yard plus touchdown. Darby found space between safety Demonte King and cornerback Chase Lucas. Darby screamed ‘touchdown,’ after the play. Defensive coordinator Danny Gonzales also did his yelling about the blown assignments with a very non-child friendly phrase.
