After blowing their three-quarter lead against No. 4 Baylor (4-0), a week a rest presented a rejuvenated ASU team in Fayetteville, AR.
The No. 22 Devils (2-1) got ahead of Arkansas (2-1) early and held strong to the very end in an 88-85 victory Sunday night.
It was a strong performance out of senior forward Sophia Elenga who put together her first career double-double.
Elenga tallied 25 minutes off the bench, she scored 11 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds.
Three other Devils scored in double figures as senior Kianna Ibis led the team with 20 points.
While the Devils were able to secure their victory, they were outscored in the fourth quarter for the second-straight game. Arkansas made a late push in a 23-19 fourth quarter but could barely maintain any of the two leads they had towards the end.
ASU shot much better this game with 49.2% of shots made and took less from the three-line going 5-of-16.
Turnovers bit the Devils 17 times but they controlled the boards out-rebounding the Razorbacks 43 to 35 and the bench for ASU outscored Arkansas’ bench 42-11.
