On Thursday afternoon, the Arizona State Sun Devils got the news that Jayden Daniels would be joining their 2019 recruitment class. He announced his decision via a Youtube livestream.
Daniels is currently attending Cajon High School in San Bernardino, California. He is ranked as a four-star quarterback by 247Sports and Rivals. Daniels’ final decision came down between Utah, UCLA and Cal. He also received offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, USC and more.
The 6-foot-3, 175 pound, Daniels is rated as 15th best player in California and the 2nd best dual-threat quarterback in the nation by 247Sports. He is also rated 82nd overall recruit by 247Sports and by their composite score is ASU’s 10th highest recruit ever, above even Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year, Merlin Robertson.
Daniels joins other quarterback recruits Ethan Long and Joey Yellen, who will all compete for the starting job next year. Daniels is the 21st commit of the class joining defensive ends David “DJ” Heckard, Anthonie Cooper, Amiri Johnson, offensive linemen LaDarius Henderson, Roman DeWys, Alijah Bates, Dohnovan West and Ben Scott, defensive back Jordan Clark, wide receivers Andre Johnson, Ricky Pearsall, Jordan Kerley, quarterbacks tight end Nolan Matthews, linebacker Connor Soelle, athlete Ty DeArman, twins Keon and Kejuan Markham,
