On early signing day, Nolan Matthews is one of the many ASU commitments who made things official after announcing his intent to come to Tempe on the Fourth of July.
Matthews is currently attending Reedy High School in Frisco, Texas. He’s ranked as a three-star tight end by 247Sports and Rivals. Matthews also fielded offers from Iowa State, TCU and Air Force, among a long list of schools.
The 6-foot-3, 242-pound athlete is ranked as the 27th best tight end in the country, and the 83rd best player in the Lone Star State, according to 247Sports.
In 14 games played during his senior season, Matthews grabbed 55 receptions for 756 yards and nine touchdowns. He averaged nearly 54 yards a game receiving, and he averaged almost 14 yards per reception.
The Texas product could add some depth along with current ASU tight ends Tommy Hudson, Jared Bubak and Jarick Caldwell.
